Armand acquired a passion for winemaking from his parents, Jacques and Ida du Toit, who were fruit and wine growers and together with his uncle Alex, they have progressively developed this young winery. Armand and Alex, sharing a commitment to produce noble wines and will continue to produce excellent wines for years to come, driven by an ambition to pay tribute to their family legacy.

My philosophy is to create each wine from the best grapes on the best suitable “terroir” what the farm has to offer under the Estate classification with minimum interference. I believe in soil, location, climate and one human factor, management, but with a nature driven mindset. - Armand du Toit

The grapes for our Druiwetros Chenin Blanc where hand-picked and a combination of whole-bunch and destemmed gapes were pressed directly from vineyard in the early morning to ensure the most delicate extraction of its juice.

The vines’ natural low yield, early ripening and limey Karoo soil ensures a strong concentration of fruity, tropical flavours.

Memoire “Memory”
The idea of the “Memoiré” range started with Armand du Toit (winemaker) reading through some old magazine cuttings and articles of his mother Ida. He found an article published by The National Department of Agriculture of his mother’s performance in the Female Farmers Award 2000, where she won “Top producer for export markets” in the Western Cape.

“The first red wine grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon, were planted on the farm this season. She envisages a boutique winery with only the best quality red wine. Mrs Du Toit is also opening a guesthouse where she hopes to serve her first red wine in five-year time.”

Knowing that the only Cabernet Sauvignon “block” planted by his mother is on DuVon, Armand wants to relive her dream by making this Cabernet Sauvignon in “Memory” of his mother IDA du Toit ~1956-2006~
